Its compact, mounding habit of red to burgundy foliage adds welcome color throughout the year, and spring brings lovely neon pink blooms that are a delight for butterflies and hummingbirds.

This Chinese Fringe Flower is easy to grow and adaptable to most conditions, although it does perform best in well-drained soils. Since its habit tends to be somewhat spreading, some gardens are even using it as a groundcover. And of course its manageable size makes it a great candidate for container growth as well.
