Athyrium niponicum 'metallicum'

Athyrium 'Metallicum' is a selection of Japanese painted fern with a silver metallic overlay to go with nice purple tones and reddish stems and veins. It is an excellent grower with an arching and mounding habit that looks best in groups. Plant it in dappled to full shade for the best color as too much sun has a tendency to bleach them out. Multiple landscape use includes woodland gardens, shade gardens, rock gardens, or along streams or ponds. Japanese painted fern is a Perennial so it will come back year after year.
